JOINING THE CRAKES LAB
Build Your Research Career
The Crakes Lab is seeking a research staff member or postdoctoral fellow to join our interdisciplinary research program investigating host-microbial interactions, dietary exposures, and comparative gastrointestinal studies.
Research projects may integrate microbiology, molecular biology, cell culture, experimental models, tissue imaging, immunologic assays, and -omics approaches. Applicants may have a background in microbiology, immunology, cancer biology, molecular or cellular biology, pathology, physiology or related disciplines. We welcome scientists interested in interdisciplinary research and developing new technical and conceptual expertise. The position can be shaped around the successful candidate’s experience, interests, and career goals.
Interested applicants are encouraged to submit a CV, a brief description of research interests and relevant experience, and professional references to kcrakes@illinois.edu.
OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS & TRAINEES
Grow, Learn & Contribute to Research
We welcome inquiries from motivated students, trainees, research staff, and collaborators interested in:
Host-microbe interactions
Gastrointestinal, liver, and metabolic disease
Veterinary and comparative pathology
Cancer and immunotherapy
Molecular and computational approaches
Experimental pathology and animal model phenotyping
Quantitative histology and digital pathology
Lab members received individualized mentorship based on their experience, research interests, and career goals. Prior laboratory experience is helpful but not a requirement for every opportunity. We value curiosity, reliability, collaboration, and a willingness to learn across disciplines.
Graduate, veterinary, and undergraduate students: please email Dr. Katti Crakes kcrakes@illinois.edu with your current CV or resume and a brief description of your research experience and interest.
